We love #FollowFriday on Twitter, but really, it just doesn’t do justice to all of the awesome people talking about #medicalmarijuana, #pot, #420, being a #stoner and generally enjoying stony goodness.
We spent many late stoned nights reading through tweets, passing lists around and adding and subtracting until we’d gotten a big puff of the tweeters we love. It took a while, but we think it’s worth it – our favorite 420 Stonytwits:

We’ve got to say that this article on a porn studio focused on stoner girls is both a genius and hilarious idea. To be honest, we wish we’d come up with it. Of course, as the article mentions, it turns out that stoners aren’t necessarily the best when it “cums” to taking direction and oh, by the way, the dialog just might be lacking.
But, no matter, it’s an idea worth trying and hey, maybe it’ll give the term, “joining the mile high club” a whole new meaning right?
Take a look at www.420partybabes.com if you’re interested in finding out more and report back with what you think. We’re curious about if there’s a real audience for this or if the audience’s challenging attention span might make it too tough to work : – )
From the Sleepless Stoner under Edibles, Marijuana Vaporizers
As big fans of vaporizers as an investment in your health, we also really support the use of edibles to disseminate marijuana. Baking some delicious goodies and enjoying them with friends is one of our favorite afternoon activities.
It’s always funny the first time someone has our brownies and then finds out that we made them out of already vaporized pot. Try it about an hour in, once they’re starting to feel lit, and you’ll get a lot of giggles and high fives.. at least that’s what happens to us : – ).
Using vaporized weed in your baking is very simple. Once you’ve vaporized your marijuana until it’s brown and time for replacement (we’ve got a comparison in the picture to the right), you can just drop it into a container and collect it.
Depending on your vaporizing frequency, you’ll build up a nice stash of vaporized weed in a month or so. At the point when you have 2 grams or more, you’ll begin thinking about making some pot brownies or other baked goods.
At this point, all you have to do is to use the vaporized material just as you would fresh material. It won’t be as potent as the fresh material, but we’ve found that it retains a lot of efficacy, nonetheless. We’ve experimented with using both fresh and vaporized weed to make brownies and put together a bit of a chart for you for rough guidance.
That’s really all there is to baking using your vaporized weed. It’s just like using regular weed but will require some experimentation to figure out the exact right amount for you and your friends. The nice thing about using vaped weed is that everything you get out of it is sort of a bonus right? Take notes, experiment and you’ll find the baking recipes that work for you and get the most out of your weed purchases.
From the Sleepless Stoner under Edibles
Pot brownies are among the easiest and most common of the pot edibles out there. We’re here to guide you on your journey to create delicious brownies that will get you and your friends nicely high on a predictable basis.
Before we get into the specifics of making the brownies, let’s remember a few easy rules that are important when baking something for the first time:
Most people don’t recognize it, but baking is more exact than most cooking. You want to get this stuff accurate, if possible.
We also recommend that you get yourself a scale. If you’re going to bake more than a few times, get a little digital scale and use it to measure exactly how much weed you’re putting in your brownies. Remember, the more weed you cook, the stronger the brownie… simple stuff : – )
Pot butter is fun, but it’s time consuming and requires a lot more weed. Get a mix that uses oil and save yourself a couple hours.
We’ve put together a basic chart about using weed in our brownies and the approximate outcomes around strength. Remember, these are just our experiences. We can’t say that the weed you’re using or your metabolism will react the same way, so always proceed cautiously. Again, write down what you do and the outcomes and you’ll be approaching this in a safer, smarter way. You’ll be able to create your own chart, just like this, after a few tries.
As we’ve mentioned in other places, one of the great things about vaporizers is that you can use the vaporizer leftovers for baking and they’re often still potent. We’ve had lots of success combining vaped grounds with fresh grounds and even just using vaped grounds, so we’ve included amounts that mix the vaporized and fresh grounds.
Put the amount of oil that your mix calls for in a small sauce pan and then add the ground weed. If you don’t have a grinder, we recommend lightly chopping it up. The less you touch it with your fingers, the better, as you’ll end up losing some of the oils that you want.
You want to raise the temperature of the oil to a slow simmer – usually accomplished at medium to medium high on your stove. What you’re looking for are small bubbles developing in the oil and simmering up to the top.
If the oil’s not warm enough, you won’t cook the THC out of the plant material and if you’re too hot you’ll scorch the plants and lead to complete disintegration, which will make your brownies more grainy.
Simmer and stir the oil, monitoring it to see that you’re getting the right reaction. After about 10 minutes, the oil should be turning a bit brown. If it’s not, try turning the temperature up a bit. If everything goes correctly, you should be done after 20 to 25 minutes. The oil should be a deep brown and most of the plant material should be pretty soaked and soft. More likely than not, you’ll smell a lot of the same smells as you do when you’re smoking pot.
Be sure to let the oil cool, so as not to be too hot when handling it. After it’s cool, strain the oil – we like a simple gold mesh coffee strainer for the job, but the main point is to filter out the plant material in the oil. A cheesecloth or paper coffee filter could work in a pinch.
Make sure to get as much of the oil out of the plants as possible. Every extra drip has some of the goodness you’re trying to extract, so we like to take our time with this process and really let it soak out.
You’ve got the hard work done, just take the oil and add it to the brownie mix as called for and make your brownies. Most recipes usually take about 35 minutes of baking and need a half hour to cool, so when you factor in the 20 minutes or so for making the oil, you should have yourself a batch of delicious pot brownies in 90 minutes.
If you have questions about this or any suggestions for us, just let us know in the comments!
So, you’ve been doing a little research and figured out that there’s this thing called a vaporizer for “vaporizing” weed right?
If you don’t know the first thing about vaporizers you should read our short take on: What is a vaporizer?
If you’re like us, you are looking around at all these vaporizer options and wondering to yourselves if it’s worth the $100 or more. Even worse, you’re probably wondering if you’re picking the right device. We’re here to make your decision easy: YES. If you smoke pot, get a vaporizer. Simple.
You are going to love having a vaporizer, especially one of the ones that we like. They last a long time and are great for you.

Here’s why:
When you smoke weed, 110 different things enter your body. You vaporize it and only 3 do. It’s really that much better.
Let’s say that you usually go through a bowl when you’re smoking. Take a look over there, that’s what we’re talking about, just a simple bowl in your little pipe that you got at the corner store for $25.
Over the course of an evening maybe you pack that, hit it, let it sit, relax, read a book, watch some tv and hit it again. Fast forward a couple hours and you’ve probably made it through the entire bowl. Maybe 2 or 3.
Sound about right?
Now, l
et’s take that same bowl and put it it in a vaporizer. Take a look at this – we’re putting about the same amount of weed into this little disc in the Vapir One Vaporizer (our favorite vape for value) to fill it up. The difference lies in this:
That little disc might last us 3, 5, maybe even 7 nights.
Think about that: if weed lasts 3 times as long, how much money would you save on pot?
Let’s look back at that little bowl you’ve been packing up until now. If your smoking pattern says that you’re refilling about once a month for about $50, that means you’re spending $150 every three months. Sound like you?
With the vaporizer, however, your first purchase of weed will last you about three months. $50 in pot, for three months of getting stoned with the vaporizer, vs $150 when you’re using your pipe.
Simple math right? Spend $150 on a vaporizer like the Vapir One and it will have paid itself off in less than 6 months. From then on you’ll be:
Have we not convinced you? Tell us what else is on your mind in the comments. We’d love to hear what is holding you back from getting a vaporizer.

From the admin under Drug Policy
Here in the United States, there’s a lot of misinformation about cannabis and its health impacts.
Given the fact that Tobacco and Alcohol are legal and that each passing year brings us more prescription drugs, we think marijuana prohibition is mostly for historical cultural reasons. We’re doing our small part to help spread information by sharing the science and facts that are being discovered via research on marijuana’s impacts on the human body.
Let’s talk about the myth of marijuana killing people for a moment.
In this study of deaths and their causes which compares marijuana with FDA approved drugs, we find some interesting information: the FDA approved drugs are much more deadly, according to a government-approved evaluation methodology.
We highly recommend reading through it, it’s enlightening. Maybe a little dry, but hey, this is your health we’re talking about.
We’d like to remind you all that here at Stonyview, we think about our health and the risks we’re taking by enjoying marijuana. We think it’s similar to thinking about drinking a beer or a glass of wine or eating a whole package of bacon or having a candy bar. Nothing more. Nothing less.
While we think it’s ridiculous that people paint marijuana as deadly and that’s the point of us researching and reading up on the latest medical studies, we also think that it’s important to note that:
Do you smoke?
If you’re like us, you enjoy that toke. That little puff, the inhale and the warming sensation as you feel the smoke waft through your mouth and lungs. If you’re a noob or you really took a tube down, you finish off with a bit of a cough and some watery eyes.
Mmmmmm just thinking about it makes us want one. It’s a fun feeling
The damage you do to your lungs as the result of smoking pot is pretty serious. You just need to think about these two unique aspects of lighting marijuana on fire:
You’ve probably thought about this before. Maybe you’ve evaluated the risks and decided you’re fine with it. Just like having that glass of wine with dinner, you’re comfortable with the risks you take in your life and that’s one you are willing to take.
If you haven’t, you owe it to yourself to think about it a bit. Part of why most people feel kind of "dumb" when they smoke pot is because of this carbon monoxide – it goes straight into your system through your mouth and nose you and for a few minutes, you let the carbon monoxide asphyxiate your brain for a few minutes. That dumb feeling isn’t part of being stoned.. it’s the byproduct of inhaling a fire.
If you would run out of a smoky building, worried about the impact on your brain and lungs, you owe it to yourself to think harder about what you’re doing when you’re taking those bong hits. That joint you light up everyday is beautiful, but it’s burning the shit out of your mouth, really fucking up your lungs and killing brain cells (yeah, it’s the carbon monoxide that does that, not the weed).
Don’t get too down about things though. If you love weed but don’t like reading and hearing about all these negative side effects to smoking, rest assured that there are two different ways to go about consuming pot:
We’re unabashed vaporizer lovers here at Stonyview. Consider this: vaporizers tend to give you a better high with less weed in the same amount of time that it takes to smoke. Pretty awesome right?
We wrote about why you should invest in a vaporizer and won’t repeat ourselves much here, but our two favorite vapes at the moment are:
The Volcano Vaporizer, the Cadillac of Vapes
The Vapir One Vaporizer – the best value out there

Who doesn’t love eating yummy stuff and then having a delicious body high for several hours afterwards? Making basic edibles can be surprisingly easy:
Pot brownies in 90 minutes? Yes please – take a look at our easy instructions.
What’s challenging about edibles is that they require quite a bit of plant material in order to get you the high you’re looking for. However, we’ve discovered another reason that vaporizers are awesome: if you keep the vaporized leftovers you can use them to bake with.
How to use vaporized material for your baking goodies
So, now that you know that:
Be sure to spread the facts to your friends. The more people understand the basics and the facts, the better!
From the Sleepless Stoner under Drug Policy, Medical Marijuana
…at least according to this report from GOOD on The Carbon footprint of Indoor Cannabis production.
The report says that indoor Cannabis production is using 1% the nation’s entire electricity
consumption, which comes to a cost of ~$5 billion/year in electricity costs.
According to the report, much of the costs of energy associated with Cannabis production are due to highly inefficient practices designed to avoid being caught. If legal, the cannabis industry would be able to pursue more efficient growing methods, including moving much of the growing outdoors. Fast Company’s take on this report goes so far as to say that,
“Marijuana production needs to be legalized, so people will actually cast a critical eye on its energy usage. All the industry has to do is follow in the footsteps of the commercial agricultural industry, which has made strides in energy efficiency in recent years.”
With more people consuming Cannabis every day, it’s certainly important to behave responsibly and take a mature stance to the impact we, as consumers, have on energy practices. Obviously, legalization would help to further the objective of a lower carbon impact, but the next best thing that you can do is to apply a philosophy similar to that of what we’re starting to do with food. Ask your source a few questions:
These might seem like small questions to ask, but being conscientious and curious is the first step that you can take to leading to better practices. As the consumer, your dollars can drive action, so start driving action and preferring less impactful marijuana that hasn’t been shipped long distances!
Question: do you think that you can impact the energy practices of companies? Discuss with us in the comments.
