Medical Marijuana is a lifesaver on a daily basis

We hear from friends on Twitter and Facebook, as well as through our site, every day, that medical marijuana is what helps them deal with otherwise debilitating conditions. It’s important to recognize the role that Medical Marijuana plays in the health and well-being of  so many people who would be so much worse off if not for the numerous healing effects of cannabis.

Here are some recent scientific research pieces on the impacts and usefulness of medical marijuana:

  • UW researchers find that marijuana is “safe and effective”
    • Researcher Sunil Aggarwal and colleagues write, “nearly all of the 33 published controlled clinical trials conducted in the United States have shown significant and measurable benefits in subjects receiving the treatment.”
  • AIDS patients significantly benefit from medical marijuana pain relief treatments
    • “AIDS patients suffering from debilitating nerve pain got as much or more relief by smoking marijuana as they would typically get from prescription drugs — and with fewer side effects — according to a study conducted under rigorously controlled conditions with government-grown pot.”
  • A longer piece on the UW research, including a long history of cannabis benefits
